On the surface, Haiti is a tropical paradise
of swaying palm trees, beautiful beaches and crystal blue waters. But
dig a little deeper and you learn that Haiti is actually the poorest country
in the western hemisphere. In this land of abject poverty, where the
vast majority of people have no electricity or any modern convenience,
hopelessness hides just beneath the surface of their warm smiles.
Children often die from lack of food or medicine. The level of poverty
here is so mind-numbing that Haitian children are denied the most basic
privilege of attending school. If you care, Reciprocal Ministries
International has established a scholarship fund to meet this need.
You can help us bring the blessings of a Christ-centered education to the
children of Haiti.
If you care...
You can unlock the very real prison of
illiteracy that holds children captive from childhood through to the grave.
Imagine your life if you could not read, or comprehend the simplest math, or
understand geography or history, even of your own country! What if you
were refused all meaningful jobs because you did not attend school?
Here in America, children are very apt to take education for granted, but in
Haiti, it is seen as a precious privilege, and most often, just out of
reach!
You can provide not
only an opportunity to attend school, but a quality education
that is Christ-centered. All Haitian children, who are privileged
enough to be able to attend school, must pay for their education.
Those students who are able to find the means to complete the sixth 6th
grade are then given a national written examination to test their
knowledge. Only those who score well on the rest are allowed to go
on to high school. Thus it becomes apparent that simple education
is not enough - it must be a quality education.
Because you care...
Reciprocal Ministries International has provided a program through
which you can help these children acquire a quality Christian education.
RMI works with a nationally recognized Haitian association of more than 300
churches scattered throughout the southern peninsula of Haiti. Quality
education is provided through church schools in these local churches.
Most of these churches are in remote areas and extremely poor. You can
help RMI to aid these struggling church schools and bring hope to the
children in southern Haiti.
